The York Public Health Team is the team responsible for delivering the Drug and Alcohol Strategy at a local level. It does this by ensuring the work of the local agencies is brought together effectively and that cross-agency projects are co-ordinated successfully.
Drug overdose protocol
York and North Yorkshire have a local drug overdose protocol which is intended to assure people that the police will only attend a drug overdose call out in exceptional circumstances.
Emergency health services will respond to drug overdose calls for help without routinely notifying the police, thereby reducing concerns that people may have about calling an ambulance in a situation where a life could be saved.
