Adoption pre-assessment

Recent changes to the adoption process determined that First4Adoption, would provide information to prospective adopters nationally.

First steps

When you begin thinking about adoption you may want to seek information from a number of adoption agencies, to ensure you chose one that's right for you. You can contact:

  • First4Adoption
  • An adoption agency provided by local councils
  • A voluntary adoption agency in your area

Adopting with us

If you make an enquiry with us we will invite you to attend a joint meeting, which we set up with other local councils, to help you find out about adoption in the area.

After the meeting, if you decide you want to further explore adopting with our agency we will arrange to visit you.

During the visit we'll discuss what you are hoping for, your current circumstances and what adopting with us could mean for you. We'll give you a 'registration of interest' form which you can return if you decide to proceed.

We will let you know within 5 working days of receiving your form whether we are able toprogress your interest in adopting with us.

See what happens next, in Stage 1.
