You can apply for a special control parking permit if you live in the Micklegate, North Street area, or in Agar Street to allow you (or a vehicle owner visiting your property) to park in certain resident bays in the area.
Return your application with the correct payment and a copy of one of the following documents to prove your address:
- council tax bill
- utility bill dated in the last 3 months (telephone landline, electricity, water, gas)
- driving licence
- proof that your name appears on the current edited electoral roll (the edited electoral role is the one that is open to the general public to view)
- pension/benefit book
- tenancy agreement
Only one permit can be issued and no visitor permits can be purchased. Permit holders may also be restricted to certain bays within a zone.
The initial cost of your permit depends on what type of vehicle you have, how long you need the permit for, the level of emissions your vehicle produces and its size:
If the emissions are up to 120g/Km2 (vehicle tax bands A to C) or your vehicle is less than 2.7m long or it is electric or LPG powered, then you will be entitled to the discounted rate.
- 12 months: £55
- 9 months: £48.75
- 6 months: £32.50
- 3 months: £16.25
If the emissions are 121g to 185g/Km2, (vehicle tax bands D to I):
- 12 months: £110
- 9 months: £97.50
- 6 months: £65
- 3 months: £32.50
If the emissions are over 186+g/Km2 (vehicle tax bands J to M) or your vehicle is longer than 5m, you will be charged the premium rate for your household permit:
- 12 months: £137.50
- 9 months: £126
- 6 months: £84
- 3 months: £42
When you move into a new property, you may not have the relevant proof of address to apply for a special control parking permit, however you can get a temporary parking permit for your resident parking zone for a period of up to 3 months.
Once you have the necessary documents to prove your address, you can forward them to us to confirm you live at the property. When we receive your documents we'll issue your resident permit to allow you to continue parking in the area. To apply for a temporary permit, complete a special control parking permit application form.
