Strategic Housing Market Assessment (2011)
Consultants GVA were commissioned to undertake a Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) on behalf of the North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Partnership in September 2010. The North Yorkshire Sub-Regional report was signed off by the North Yorkshire Strategic Housing Partnership Board on the 12 December 2012 and was considered by City of York Members at the Local Development Framework Working Group on the 5 March 2012.
The findings of this research will be used to inform each authority's housing policy, Local Development Framework and negotiations on planning applications.

Strategic Housing Market Assessment (2007)
In June 2007 City of York Council published a Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA) carried out by Fordham research. The report has been produced in accordance with the technical outputs required by the Housing Market Assessment Guidance published by the CLG in March 2007 and is available to download below.
The SHMA uses a range of data sources including secondary data, a postal survey of over 13,000 households, discussions with estate and letting agents and stakeholder work.
The report was approved by the Local Development Framework (LDF) Working Group for use as part of LDF evidence base in July 2007. This document will feed into the preparation of strategic housing and planning document.
The report provides a framework for discussion on a range of policy choices relating to housing mix, type and affordability. The document has also been approved for development control use in accordance with Development Control Local Plan Policy H3c: Housing mix.
