The YorWellbing Small Grants Fund (SGF) can help clubs and organisations to:

  • achieve further engagement and representation within the local community, particularly with those who are not currently club members
  • reduce health inequalities
  • increase the number of new participants
  • support the delivery of quality sports or activity experiences

The grant must be used to fulfil one of these criteria and covers coach or volunteer education, equipment, venue hire or the delivery of new programmes of activity.

YorWellbeing SGF applications

As the SGF has a limited amount of money:

  • the amount of funding for each application is limited to £500
  • only 1 application can be accepted from a club or organisation in each financial year
  • evidence may be requested to prove the legitimate use of grants

The funding window for this grant round is now closed. Opening dates for further rounds will be announced on this page.

YorWellbeing Hub Club Fund

The YorWellbeing Hub Club project aims to utilise clubs to enable community engagement. This is achieved by developing hub sites to utilise as community venues.

The project aims to support sports clubs to:

  • increase the number of individuals using their facilities
  • host a variety of different activities at the site
  • generate revenue through facility hire

Successful applicants will receive £1000 of funding to spend on improving the quality of experience available to existing members.

The club would offer new community engagement sessions as a way of increasing its involvement with the local community. These community engagement sessions would meet the demand of the club’s associates and the local community, and would not be an additional session exclusive to existing club members.

There is also an expectation that a YorWellbeing Hub Club would have a voluntary committee member responsible for health and wellbeing within the club, who would receive training free of charge in this area. It would be expected that this ‘Health Ambassador’ would use this knowledge to help develop further initiatives within their Hub Club.

The Hub Club guidance notes are available to download as part of the YorWellbeing funding documents.
