York Allotments Against Crime (YAAC)

In summer 2015 we launched the 'York Allotments against Crime' initiative, with neighbourhood police and linking to neighbourhood watch schemes.

For safety, your items should be taken home or stored securely on your allotment site. However, we've identified a security marker (known as a 'dot peen' marker) which could help identify and return items, if stolen. You can have your allotment tools and equipment security marked - please contact our allotments administrator for more information.

Download our allotment watch poster to print and display on your site to show your property is security marked.

Tool marking campaign

During spring and summer, tool marking sessions take place on all of the council managed allotment sites. Details of these sessions for 2017 will be made available in due course. If you would like to know more about tool marking please get in touch with the allotments administrator.

Newly formed in 2015 at Bootham Allotments and in 2016 at Carr Allotments, we also operate 2 fully functional apiaries for qualified and newly qualified bee keepers.

Charges are minimal at £10.00 per hive. Please get in touch to organise a visit and discuss opportunities.
