Contact York Register Office to get copy certificates for civil partnerships. Alternatively download a copy certificate application form and return it with a stamped, self-addressed envelope and a postal order made payable to 'City of York Council'.
The more information you can provide, the easier it will be for staff to find the correct information on our system.
You'll need to tell us:
- the date the civil partnership occurred
- the place where the civil partnership occurred
- the names of the people involved
We can supply full copies of certificates, or 'extract copies':
- if you want a full copy, you must supply the addresses of the people at the time the civil partnership occurred
- extract copies do not include the addresses of the people involved

In addition to certificate costs, you are able to pay for faster delivery, or for secure ‘signed for delivery‘.
Copy certificates, standard delivery
Standard orders are processed within 10 working days and are sent by second class post.
If you require your order urgently, you can purchase a priority certificate to be posted first class or ready for collection the next working day.
Your copy certificate application must be in by 3.00pm for next working day postage or collection.
Signed For delivery service
York Register Office is not liable for any certificates that are delayed or lost in the post.
If you would prefer to be able to track your order, for an additional fee, your certificates will be sent by the ‘Signed For’ service.
The fee will be the same whether you are requesting a single certificate or multiple certificates within the same delivery.
