Camera Enforcement on Coppergate

Automatic number plate recognition (ANPR)

Traffic enforcement cameras are being used in Coppergate to enforce the bus lane between the junctions with Castlegate and Piccadilly between 8am and 6pm (7 days a week).

The cameras automatically capture footage of vehicles (including details of their registration mark) in the restricted hours. There is a human 'back-office' administration involved in reviewing and processing potential penalty charge notices.

Road Signs

Signs are positioned at street level to raise awareness prior to vehicles entering Coppergate.

Restriction times

The access restrictions on Coppergate apply everyday from 8am to 6pm. The restriction does not apply to pedal cycles.

Between 8am to 6pm, only the following motor vehicles will be able to access Coppergate:

Penalty Charge Notices (PCN)

If you receive a penalty charge notice, full instructions on what to do next, how and where to pay, who to contact and how to appeal are included on the PCN and you should follow the instructions on the notice.

Using an online service you can pay for a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN), find out more information about the contravention, or appeal.

You will need your Penalty Charge Number and Vehicle Registration Number in order to use the online service.
