Help to stop smoking and vaping for teenagers

We’ve seen a rise in teenagers smoking and vaping in York.

Cigarette use in young people causes short of breath and reduced physical stamina in the short term, and in the long term reduces lung growth and leads to early cardiovascular damage (American Centres for Disease Control and Prevention .pdf).

Our skilled CYC Health Trainers offer free confidential one-to-one support and guidance, face-to-face or remotely, to help 12 to 17 year olds stop smoking or vaping.

If you're a York secondary school or sixth form student, the CYC Health Trainers team can offer free patches, gum and Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).

E-cigarettes cannot be offered to under 18s, as the sale of e-cigarettes is regulated in the same way as the sale of conventional cigarettes.

Getting help is easy, just contact the CYC Health Trainers using the online form and a health trainer will be in touch.

You can also contact the team by telephone: 07789 946 384 (please seek permission from your parent, carer or bill payer), or email: cychealthtrainers@york.gov.uk.

For more information please download our leaflets and posters which are available in the CYC Health Trainers toolkit.
