Zero carbon new homes
Our Housing Delivery Programme is the most ambitious council-led scheme for a generation, and the largest zero carbon house building programme in the country.
The programme:
- supports the aim of York becoming carbon neutral by 2030
- is a long-term investment in high-quality new affordable homes for current and future generations pioneering low carbon lifestyles
- promotes health and wellbeing by creating high quality green spaces, private amenity spaces and sociable, well-connected and walkable neighbourhoods
Generous space standards and provision for home working mean the homes can adapt, so residents can live in them 'well, and independently' for as long as possible.
120 progressive zero carbon homes are planned for Duncombe Barracks and Burnholme.
