We're offering grant-funded improvements for low income households through our Home Upgrade Grant (HUG).
HUG funding is available to you whether you own or privately rent your home, subject to the eligibility criteria. Permission will also be required from your landlord if you're in private rented accommodation.
The following types of energy efficiency measures are available:
- loft insulation and draft proofing
- cavity wall insulation
- attic room insulation
- PV solar panels
- air source heat pumps (available for homes which are not connected to gas or which don’t have central heating)
HUG eligibility criteria and funding
To qualify for HUG funding:
- your household must have an annual income of less than £30,000 per year
- properties must have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D to G
All grants are subject to a home survey and an Energy Performance Certificate.

If you own your home the insulation work and survey will be fully funded by the grant.
