Current travel and parking service updates

Abandoned vehicles

We are suspending our abandoned vehicle service due to the ongoing issues caused by coronavirus.

As more people will be self-isolating, vehicles will likely be parked for much longer than usual. You're asked not to report any vehicles to us except if it's deemed that the vehicle is causing an obstruction on the public highway

Any report of a vehicle causing an obstruction will be investigated by officers at their earliest convenience who will decide what to do with the vehicle

If you've reported a vehicle this will have been reviewed and a decision made whether to remove it or not. Please don't contact us to check up on a report you've made if you still see the vehicle, as it's likely a decision has been made to leave it where it is.

Customers can continue to report any untaxed vehicles or vehicles without any MOT to the DVLA as normal, via Gov.uk.

Blue Badges

Blue Badge face-to-face assessments have been cancelled and will not resume until further notice. The Blue Badge phone line is also unavailable, if you have a query, email bluebadge@york.gov.uk

We're unable to undertake any mobility assessments currently, therefore if you are applying for a Blue Badge, we recommend you provide as much medical evidence as possible to support your application. If a mobility assessment is still required to determine your eligibility then your application will be placed on hold until these can be completed.

All other aspects of the Blue Badge service are operating as normal, if your Blue Badge is due to expire, reapply online
