York Gold 2012

Have you been inspired by the Olympics? Want to have a go at sport?

Just because the sparkle of Olympic gold is behind us, there is still a wealth of sporting opportunities in the city for residents and visitors alike. With over 300 sports clubs and all sorts of physical activity programmes on offer,  you might want to try your hand at rowing, cycling or athletics and emulate some of our 2012 medallists. Alternatively, Tai Chi, aquafit or bowls might be more your cup of tea. Information on clubs, activity timetables and much more can be found on our sports pages. Whatever you have been inspired to do, our sport and active leisure team can help you to find a local club, taster session or point you to the nearest community facility where you can have a go. Contact us on (01904) 553377 or email sportandactiveleisure@york.gov.uk for more information.

Finally, the city's "Just 30"  campaign encourages you to take just 30 minutes of physical activity a day for a happier healthier you. See twitter.com/just30york, find Just30York on Facebook or visit the Just 30 pages on our website for all of the latest information about sporting events, competitions and where to go in the city to get a bit more of that Olympic fix.
