City Car Club

City Car Club

Do you own a car that spends most of its time sitting on the driveway? Or don’t own a car but wish you had one sometimes?

Now with City Car Club, there’s no need to own a car to use one when you need. The scheme can save you thousands of pounds a year over car ownership, and can help reduce your carbon footprint.

How it works

City Car Club is a ‘car club’, so you need to sign up as a member to get started. Then you can book a car for as little as half an hour or as long as you need, at any time of the day or night.

Cars can be reserved either online or by phone and booking is flexible - you can book weeks ahead or right at the last minute (up to 30 seconds before a vehicle is needed).

Once you've made a booking, simply walk to a car, unlock it (using a personal membership card and PIN) and drive away!

Cars are conveniently located in reserved car club parking spaces throughout York city centre, close to public transport links.

Costs

Being a City Car Club member just costs £50 a year, then you pay for what you use by the hour or the day.

Hourly rates start at £4.95 an hour, which includes fully comprehensive insurance, 50 free miles of petrol a day and 24 hour breakdown assistance.

Cost vary depending the type of car you need – a full range of low emission vehicles are available to match all types of needs.

Members are invoiced at the end of the month for what they have used– just like you would pay your phone bill.
