School crossing patrols

We (the council) provide school crossing patrols. We are not required to provide crossing patrols by law (the Road Traffic Act 1984) but we do so as a matter of safety.

Even where a school crossing is provided parents and carers retain the responsibility for ensuring their children's safety on the journey to and from school. We are also not responsible for any child whose parents have failed to collect the child at the end of the day.
