We arrange grounds maintenance and grass cutting services across most of the city including highway verges and housing communal areas.
For urban areas grass cutting of verges takes place 14 times per year starting in late March at two to three weekly intervals through to early October. Grass cutting is phased with more cuts in the spring and early summer tailing off towards the end of the growing season. This service is provided by the council's Neighbourhood Services department.
In addition flowers and shrub beds, roundabouts and hedges are maintained at various times of the year.
For rural areas, grass verges on 'A' and 'B' roads, footpaths and cycleways get a 1 metre wide strip of grass cut along the kerbside. On other roads grass cutting is restricted to road junctions, bends and sightlines. There are two cuts each year, the first is in June, the second in October. This service is currently provided by Mitchell and Struthers.
As part of the York in Bloom / York Business Pride initiative we can offer sponsorship opportunities for roundabouts and other flora sites. If you are interested please contact Street Scene.
