Carriageway Markings

Cars and other vehicles sometimes park in such a way that vehicular access to your driveway or garage is prevented.  It is possible to place an advisory white carriageway marking on the road to highlight the presence of an entrance.

Are there any rules?

In order to support your request we need to be satisfied that:

  • there is a substantial problem with obstruction of the entry
  • it is allowed under the appropriate regulations

Cost

There is no cost to apply to the council for new white lines.

Apply for new white lines

You can download the application form below to request the introduction of new white lines.  Alternatively you can write to us at the address shown in the contact details.

What happens next?

We will let you know if we support your request.  If we agree that carriageway markings can be provided it normally takes between five and ten weeks for them to  be placed on street.
