Temporary Signage for Developments

You can apply to the council to request temporary directional signage for new housing developments.

Are there any rules?

There are criteria guidelines that have to be followed which include:

  • The development must be of a minimum planned size of 30 bedrooms
  • Signage will only be allowed up to a maximum of two years - and no longer than six months after the completion of the housing development to which it refers
  • Only approved contractors on our list may erect or dismantle signs on the public highway - please see List of Approved Contractors
  • Each authorised sign will be issued with a permit sticker

It is recommended that you read the full terms and conditions before placing an application - you can download this from this page

Cost

It will cost you an administration fee of £225 (non-refundable) to initiate an investigation.  Should your application be successful there will be an additional highway rental charge of £15 per month for each sign.
