Accessible bus services in York

Buses operating on many routes in York are low-floor and wheelchair accessible. This means the driver can lower the bus to make it easier for you to board. Wheelchair accessible buses have an area where a wheelchair can be accommodated on board.

We have made significant progress in providing easy-access kerbs at most bus stops in York city centre and along several high-frequency bus routes.

Here is a summary of which bus routes in York are generally operated with low-floor vehicles (please note that replacement low-floor vehicles are not guaranteed in the event of a vehicle breakdown):

  • Arriva - buses on routes 42, 412 & 413 are low-floor but not wheelchair accessible.
  • East Yorkshire Motor Services - all buses on route X46 are low-floor and wheelchair accessible.
  • First York - buses on all routes are low-floor and wheelchair accessible (excluding York AirCoach).
  • Harrogate & District - all buses on route X54 are low-floor and wheelchair accessible.
  • Transdev York - all buses on routes 14, 20, 24 and 26 are low-floor and wheelchair accessible.
  • Yorkshire Coastliner - all buses are low-floor and wheelchair accessible.

Other companies operate low-floor buses on certain journeys. For more information please contact the relevant operator before travelling.
