New Park & Ride Sites
New Park & Ride sites for York are coming!
Following final approval from the Department for Transport two new sites at Askham Bar and Poppleton Bar will be built.
Approximately 1700 new Park & Ride spaces will be provided to improve the existing service and boost capacity. A new Park & Ride service will be established along the A59 to serve the Poppleton Bar site and the Holgate Park Drive area.
Total cost of the project is £22.7m with funding on the basis of an approximate 70% DfT and 30% City of York Council split.
Balfour Beatty has now been appointed by City of York Council as the main contractor for the construction of the new sites and associated highway works.
Construction will commence in April 2013 with the two sites planned to open in Spring 2014. Drawings showing the new site layouts are available to download and more detailed information is provided in the individual Park & Ride homepages (follow the link below).
