Disabled person's parking (green permit) scheme

The council can issue discretionary green permits to severely disabled people who have blue badges. These permits allow further access to disabled parking in York at Davygate, St.Sampson's Square and Church Street during the pedestrianised period of the day to park for up to three hours.

York is pedestrianised from 11.00am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, 10.30am to 4.30pm Saturdays and 12noon to 4.00pm Sundays.

Who can have a green permit?

If you already have a blue badge you can apply for a green permit if:

  • you receive disability living allowance higher rate mobility component or, in severe cases, incapacity benefit or
  • you use a motor vehicle supplied by the benefits agency or receive a grant towards your own vehicle

How to apply

Complete the green permit application form available on the right hand side of this screen.

You need to send proof of your disability with your application by:

  • including a copy of your approval document with your application if you are on disability living allowance/incapacity benefit or
  • including your vehicle excise duty exemption certificate(MHS30) with your application if you use a motor vehicle or
    getting your doctor to sign, date and stamp the form where indicated.
