A newly renovated play area will open this week, thanks to funding from the Playbuilder initiative.
Bardfield Road play area opposite the 68 Centre on Monkton Road, Heworth, was allocated £47,000 by City of York Council as part of the national scheme, to create a stimulating and challenging play area for children primarily aged eight-13 years of age.
The council has been allocated around £1 million from the national Playbuilder Project, to develop around 22 play areas and raise the standard of play provision in the city.
Local children and young people will officially open the newly renovated play area on Wednesday June 2. There will be an opening celebration from 10.30am until 12.30pm with ribbon cutting and cake. The event is being hosted by York Playspace and is open to all.
