City of York Council will be renewing 50m of collapsed piled riverbank downstream of Clifton Bridge, along with bank re-grading works to remove 25 years of silt build up.
This work will start during the week commencing 5 October, lasting for approximately ten weeks.
River traffic will be largely unaffected by the works, although the riverside footpath / cycle route will be temporarily closed at times with an alternative route being provided.
British Waterways and the Environment Agency have given approval for the works.
The contractor will be Land and Water Services Ltd who will be using vibro-piling to reduce the noise impact on neighbouring properties, restoring the stability of the riverbank.
