Movie mania is sweeping libraries across York this November.
2008 is the National Year of Reading and the theme for next month is 'Screen Reads'.
To mark the event libraries across York are holding a film quiz so film buffs can test their movie knowledge. There are film related prizes to be won including free subscriptions worth £18 so you can borrow DVDs and CDs from the library and cinema tickets and a gift card generously donated by York City Screen and Borders.
Libraries will also be showcasing books that have been adapted for the big screen including children's classics such as '101 Dalmations' by Dodie Smith and Margaret Mitchell's American civil war epic 'Gone with the Wind'.
To accompany the event, City Screen in York will also be showing Brokeback Mountain starring Jake Gyllenhall and the late Heath Ledger, which was adapted from the novel by Annie Proulx.
A wide range of DVDs are also available for hire from local libraries. Charges start at £2.50 to hire a 'premium' DVD for 3 days.
