City of York Council has obtained an injunction order forcing a York man who is alleged to have caused a nuisance to residents in certain areas of the city with his anti-social behaviour to stay away.
The injunction order was made at York County Court today and prevents Thomas Hodgson from:
- entering Clifton (with the exception of Water Lane from Shipton Road to
Burdyke Avenue and Burdyke Avenue itself); Clifton Moor and
Rawcliffe;
- destroying or causing damage to property belonging to another; and
- causing alarm, harrassment or distress to anyone living in, visiting or
lawfully present in Clifton, Clifton Moor and Rawcliffe (including Burdyke
Avenue).
If Mr Hodgson breaches the injunction, he faces arrest. The injunction is an interim order that will remain in place until 30 April, although it will be reviewed at a further court hearing on 13 March.
Working closely with North Yorkshire Police, the council applied for the order after receiving reports of Mr Hodgson's persistent anti-social behaviour in the Clifton, Clifton Moor and Rawcliffe areas of the city during a 12-month period leading up to the end of 2007. The council's application for the injunction order included allegations of Mr Hodgson making threats against and harrassing York residents, as well as causing damage to property.
