York's Central Library will re-open tomorrow [14 September] after a £15,000 re-fit.
The new-look library includes a bigger and more exciting children's library, with trendy furniture and books arranged by age, to make it even easier for children to chose the book they want.
A number of short-use PCs will now be available in the main foyer, for customers to pop in and use for up to 15 minutes at a time. Computers will also be available in the main lending library for the first time, making them more convenient to use. Room 18 has been turned into a flexible learning centre, offering a range of Skills for Life and IT courses.
The Reference Library has also been re-arranged to provide a more airy and spatial environment for customers.
Fiona Williams, head of Libraries at the council said: "Central Library celebrates its 80th anniversary next month and the re-vamp is a fitting way to bring the library bang up to date.
"We hope that the changes will make the facilities even easier for customers to use. In particular, the new flexible learning centre in room 18 will allow us to deliver a wide range of training courses to cater for people's needs."
Over 3,000 new books will also be available in York's libraries from tomorrow.
