York residents will get a unique opportunity to see raw footage of the sun next month when the BA Festival of Science comes to York.
'Brilliant Noise' will show a series of moving images captured by space satellites and created by artists Ruth Jarman and Joe Gerhardt, who spent five months on an international fellowship at NASA's Space Sciences Laboratory.
Supported by City of York Council as part of the Sightsonic programme, the event will include a discussion about the science behind the images from space scientist Chris David, about current NASA missions to the sun.
Peter Boardman, the council's BA Festival co-ordinator, said: "This is a unique opportunity to hear about Ruth and Joe's experiences at NASA, as well as seeing some of the amazing footage they have created since their return."
The event will be held at City Screen, York, from 2pm until 3.30pm on Sunday 9 September.
The BA Festival of Science will be in York from 9-15 September, bringing over 350 of the UK’s top scientists and engineers to discuss the latest developments in science with the public.
