Members of City of York Council's Executive will be asked to approve plans to appoint Tees Valley Housing/York Housing Association/Southdale Homes as the development partner for the Discus Bungalow redevelopment next month (6 November).
A total of 11 tender submissions were received to purchase and redevelop the three sites comprising of 100 bungalows in St. Anne's Court, Horsman Avenue, Regent Street, Faber Street and Richmond Street.
The decision to redevelop the area was taken after in-depth consultation with residents in the area. Residents were asked for their views on a range of different options, including the possibility of demolishing the bungalows and redeveloping the site to provide them with brand new homes that better meet their needs.
Under the submission put forward by Tees Valley/York Housing
Association/Southdale Homes, they have agreed to build:
- total number of properties - 198
- total re-provision of the 100 existing properties: 60 bungalows and 40
extra care apartments
- total additional affordable homes: 1 extra care apartment, 20 x 3-bed
houses, 28 x 2-bed apartments
- total remainder : 4 x extra care apartments, 26 x 3 bed houses, 7 x 2 bed
houses and 12 x 2 bed apartments
If approved as the development partner, Tees Valley Housing/York Housing Association/Southdale Homes will work in consultation with the Discus Project Board, which includes residents' representatives, to take forward the new development.
