Knapton petitions to be considered

Posted on Monday 22 October 2007

Two opposing petitions will be considered by City of York Council's Executive Member and Advisory Panel (EMAP) for City Strategy at its meeting on 29 October.

One calls for the closure of Main Street in Knapton at its junction with the A1237, whilst the other is from residents who are against this idea.

The EMAP is asked to note the two petitions, along with any feedback received from a consultation exercise being carried out by Rufforth With Knapton Parish Council, and take a view on whether the junction should be left as it is. As an alternative to this, the EMAP could ask council officers to investigate the feasibility of closing the road at this point or prohibiting right turns in and out of the junction. The outcome of such as study would be reported back to the EMAP at a future meeting.
