Bus concession reminder

Posted on Tuesday 16 October 2007

City of York Council is reminding residents that from 1 April 2008 those aged 60 years and over, as well as eligible disabled people, will be entitled to free off-peak local bus travel throughout England.

This is a change to existing legislation, which currently allows eligible people free off-peak travel within the local authority area in which they live only.

Further information about these changes, and details of how and where residents can obtain a new pass, will be made available during the coming months. York residents do not need to contact the council now, unless they have changed their address since last obtaining a pass. Anyone who has changed their address should send details in writing to: Transport Planning Unit (BP), 9 St Leonard's Place, York YO1 7ET.
