A new junction to serve the new retail park on Foss Islands Road is close to completion and will come into operation on Sunday (14 October).
Carried out by City of York Council, the Foss Islands Road improvement scheme consists of a new signal controlled junction to provide access to the new retail park. The highway improvements include the widening of Foss Islands Road and the addition of new footways, cycle routes and improved street lighting.
The new signals for vehicular traffic will be switched on during Sunday 14 October and drivers approaching the area should be prepared for the new arrangements.
To minimise any disruption to the public, the new signals will be monitored so that adjustments to these and the adjacent signals on Foss Islands Road can be made, if necessary, to improve the flow of traffic.
Signs will be placed on Lawrence Street and Layerthorpe to advise drivers approaching the area that the recently constructed James Street Link Road also gives access to the new Retail Park.
