A report on how City of York Council can further improve football playing provision in the city will be considered at a meeting of the council's Executive Member and Advisory Panel (EMAP) for Leisure and Culture on 4 December.
The EMAP will be advised of the findings of a playing pitch analysis carried out by Active York, the city's sport and active leisure partnership, and recommendations on how the council can contribute to improving facilities.
It is suggested that a Football Project Officer post should be established if a source of match funding can be identified. The postholder would be responsible for preparing a football development plan for the council, as well as helping sports groups with funding applications, and sports development and business plans.
The report also recommends that officers should work with local community and voluntary groups to develop a feasible project for pitch and ancillary facility improvements on the Knavesmire and seek external partnership funding to for it.
