Best Bar None Awards raise £500 for charity

Attendees at the last week's Best Bar None Awards have raised over £500 for York Press' Guardian Angels Appeal.

A total of £540 was raised for the appeal thanks to a raffle, with the first prize donated by InBev.

Organised by City of York Council, North Yorkshire Police and Selby District Council, the annual awards ceremony was held on 6 November and aims to encourage the owners of licensed premises in the area to further improve standards.

The ceremony was held at the National Railway Museum and was attended by more than 200 guests. Forty-three licensed premises from the York and Selby area entered the awards, and the winners received their plaques from Adam Briggs, Deputy Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.

Best Pub - Old White Swan, Goodgramgate

York City Centre Partnership award - BPM in Rougier Street
