And the winners are...

The very best of York's clubs, bars and pubs were recognised last night (6 November) at the second annual Best Bar None awards.

Best Bar None is a joint venture between City of York Council and North Yorkshire Police, which aims to encourage the owners of licensed premises in the area to further improve standards.

Last night's ceremony took place at the National Railway Museum and was attended by more than 200 guests. Forty-three licensed premises from the York and Selby area entered the awards, and the winners received their plaques from Adam Briggs, Deputy Chief Constable of North Yorkshire Police.

Best Club - The Gallery,Clifford St
Best Bar - Orgasmic, Coney St
Best Pub - Old White Swan, Goodgramgate

York City Centre Partnership award - BPM in Rougier Street
       
Overall winner for York - The Gallery

John Lacy, licensing manager for City of York Council, said: "The scheme promotes and rewards well run clubs, pubs and bars. It also aims to acknowledge premises that have policies and procedures in place for reducing drink-related crime and are working to make their premises safer.

"It was pleasing to see so many of the high profile and popular clubs, pubs and bars entering the awards."
