City of York Council is to carry out essential carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing along the section of the B1224 York Road, between Carr Lane and Oak Rise.
The work will start on Monday 12 November and is programmed to last for approximately three weeks. The work will take place Monday to Friday.
To reduce disruption the works will be carried out in two phases as follows:
Phase 1 – 12 - 23 November - is from the junction of Carr Lane up to (but not including) the roundabout at Oak Rise. These works will be carried out during the hours of 9.30am to 3.00pm. The junction of Front Street with York Road will be closed during this phase.
Phase 2 – 26-30 November - the roundabout at Oak rise. These works will be carried out during the hours of 7.00pm to 11.00pm
In order to carry out these works safely a temporary road closure of York Road will be necessary. A signed diversion route for local and through traffic will be in operation during these times. The road closure will be supervised at each end to prevent unauthorised access and to advise motorists on the current point of access to properties within the closure.
The bus stops located within the works boundary will be closed during the times of the works and notices will be posted to direct passengers to the nearest available bus stops. Outside the proposed working hours the road will remain open as usual with no restrictions imposed.
The Contractor carrying out the work will be Tarmac Ltd.
Delays are anticipated and drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
