City of York Council will start rebuilding the footway along Elmfield Avenue on 21 May.
The work will take around six weeks to complete and involves taking up and relaying flags, as well as replacing broken flags and rebuilding vehicle crossings in concrete.
It will be carried out by the council's Neighbourhood Services team between the hours of 8am and 4pm from Monday to Friday, although some weekend work might be required.
Access for residents and emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.
