Families in York will be able to access even more services under one roof this summer thanks to a new joint venture between City of York Council and its partners.
York's first two Children's Centres - Hob Moor and Clifton - are now
offering families access to:
·The Children's Information Service
·Jobcentre Plus
·Future Prospects
·Family Learning
A total of eight Children's Centres will be created in York as part of the government's 'Every Child Matters' agenda, which aims to better integrate services for children and their families by bringing them together on dedicated Children's Centre sites.
Families can get information on a wide range of topics at the centres,
including:
- Finding childcare in their area and information on choosing childcare and
help with childcare costs
- Help with finding a job working with children
- Information on what to do in the school holidays
- Information about local opportunities to learn and work
- Find out the financial benefits of being in work
- 1-2-1 guidance and support on learning, work and skills development
- CVs, jobsearch, application forms and interview skills
People can use phones at the children's centres to make free calls to a wide range of services, or can speak to specially trained advisors face to face for information and support. Families can also access information online.
