York Training Centre puts its customers first - and it's official!

Posted on Tuesday 15 May 2007

City of York Council's centre has been awarded a 'Putting the Customer First' Quality Standard Mark by the national organisation Customer First, for the second time in a row.

The standard is awarded to organisations that meet a total of 32 requirements, including: creating long term relationships with customers, and enabling customers to access the full range of business support services through the facility.  The centre first gained the award, which lasts for two years, in 2005.

Ken Sykes, acting centre manager, said: “Re-applying for the Quality Standard helped us to focus on our systems and procedures to ensure that we were delivering a first class service to our customers.

"Gaining the award for a second time is testament to the hard work and dedication of the staff, who provide a first class service to all our customer and partners. It's great that this award recognises their efforts."

The 'Customer First' assessor spent a whole day assessing the centre.

York Training Centre, based in 20 George Hudson Street, delivers apprenticeships and NVQ qualifications in a range of vocational areas.  The centre also works with young people, through the ‘Entry to Employment’ programmes, to find work and with school pupils, 14 – 16 year olds, to prepare them for adulthood and the world of work.
