City of York Council will carry out works to restore Robin Hood Tower on the city walls at Moatside Court , Lord Mayors Walk.
The work will start on Monday 14 May and will last for 20 weeks. It will be carried out by the council's team of masons.
The restoration work involves repairing the limestone masonry outside and inside the tower. The reinforced concrete roof slab of the tower is being replaced with a stainless steel reinforced concrete slab and a new floor slab built of stainless steel reinforced concrete.
The section of the walls, between Bootham Bar and Monk Bar, may have to be closed for two or three days during the work for safety reasons. More details of the closures will be provided when the timings are known.
