City of York Council has joined a national scheme that offers looked after children, their carers and other family members free entry into certain museums and galleries across the region.
The MAX Card is central to the government’s social inclusion agenda and aims to improve the life opportunities and chances of looked after children. A major objective of the scheme is to make museums, galleries and historic sites more accessible to children and their carers, and to promote these kind of venues as valuable leisure resources.
The launch of the MAX card scheme in York will be celebrated with a reception for carers from fostering and sharing care at the Merchant Adventurers’ Hall on Fossgate on 2 April.
