City of York Council is supporting Copmanthorpe Scouts as they set about creating an attractive garden area in the village as part of their forthcoming Community Action Day.
To mark 100 years of Scouting, York groups were challenged to come up with
suitable projects. Copmanthorpe Scouts will be carrying out a landscaping
project at Gardners Close in the village on 17 March, as well as offering a
car washing service and carrying out other jobs for local residents to
raise funds for Comic Relief. The group has previously been involved in
nature conservation work at Askham Boggs.
City of York Council, together with Copmanthorpe Parish Council, is
supporting the Scouts in their efforts and funding towards the cost of the
scheme is being provided from the council's York Pride budget.
Street environment officer, Andrew Williams, explained: "We are delighted to be helping the Scouts with this very worthwhile project, which will create an attractive garden area that can be enjoyed by the whole community."
