Council urges residents to have their say

Posted on Monday 26 March 2007

Do you want to know more about your council services? How well they compare to other councils and how much they cost to supply?

City of York Council is urging residents to let the authority know whether they would like it to produce an Annual Report. Residents can simply complete and return a short questionnaire at the front of the 2007/08 council tax leaflet to give their views or use the online questionnaire at www.york.gov.uk.  Local businesses are also being asked for their comments.

Peter Steed, the council's head of Finance, said: "The council is committed to informing council tax payers about the services it provides. There are a number of ways for us to do this, one of which is through an annual report, but we'd like to know how useful that would be to residents, what they think it should include and how they'd like to receive it."

Responses must be received by Monday 16 April.
