Talented young musicians' concert

Posted on Wednesday 21 March 2007

Talented young musicians will be showcasing their talents at a special lunchtime recital this weekend.

The concert continues the successful partnership between City of York Council's, Arts Education team, and York St John's University College, to highlight the skills of talented young musicians up to the age of 19 years old.

The event will be held at York St John's University Chapel on Saturday 24 March at 1.00pm. Pupils from Archbishop Holgate School, Manor School, The Mount and The Minster Schools will be taking part.

Tim Brooks, the council's music consultant for Art Education, said: “We already hold a highly successful annual music festival giving the opportunity for larger scale performances from choirs and instrumental ensembles.  Now we have added the further opportunity for celebrating some of York’s most talented young musicians in a recital of solo performers and chamber ensembles."

Tickets cost £3.00 and are available in advance from the council's Arts Education team on 01904 554666, or on the door. Tickets are free to all teachers and students.
