A spectacular Big Band Concert will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the twinning of York with the German city, Munster.
Organised by City of York Council Arts Education team, the concert will be held at Archbishop Holgate's School on Thursday, 8 March, at 7.00pm.
Young musicians from York Youth Jazz Band, Archbishop's Holgate's Soul Band, Doncaster Youth Jazz Band and the Westfalian School of Music from Munster will all take part in the concert.
Wes Lawrance, from the council's Arts Education team, said: "The concert promises an impressive musical line up and should provide a great night of big band music. We are delighted that the Westfalian School of Music from Munster and Doncaster Youth Jazz Band are visiting York for the twinning celebration."
A CD of the concert will be available from York Arts Education by calling 554660 at a cost of £3. Tickets cost £4.00 or £2.00 for concessions and are available on the door.

- The proposal for York to twin with Münster in Germany came from the British Foreign Office in 1957, and York invited Münster to visit.
- The first official visit took place from 4 - 7 July 1957.
- The first return visit to Münster was in March 1958.

- Many civic exchanges have taken place over the last 50 years, strengthening the bond of friendship, sharing in special events and occasions in the two cities.
