A special family event has been added to York Literature Festival and is guaranteed to get participants buzzing with excitement.
The event is a celebration of garden creepy crawlies in poetry, projected images and music by York-based poet Anneliese Emmans Dean.
This is followed by a wildlife walk looking for insects and other wildlife in Rowntree Park led by Vicky Harland of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Stephen Whittaker from City of York Council Parks and Open Spaces section. Who knows what minibeasts you will encounter?
Vicky said "I'm looking forward to this activity. It incorporates all the
fun and discovery aspects of a traditional minibeast hunt combined with the
additional interest brought by Anneliese's slide shows and poetry, as a new
element tying the activity in with the York Literature Festival."
Those interested in taking part should make a beeline for The Pavilion,
Rowntree Park, on Sunday 11 March at 1pm. The event is free, lasts until
3pm and is suitable for those over seven years old but booking is
essential. To book tickets please ring 659570.
York Literature Festival runs until 15 March. For more information on events please see the council's website www.york.gov.uk or www.yorkfestivals.com
