Take a walk along New Walk

Posted on Monday 25 June 2007

One of the highlights of City of York Council's 2007 Festival of the Rivers will be an evening riverside walk for disabled people on Monday 9 July at 7pm.

Anyone interested in attending is invited to meet at the Wellington pub on Alma Terrace, where the walk will begin. People of all ages are welcome and the event is free of charge to those taking part and their carers.

The walk will be a gentle stroll along both sides of the river Ouse between Skeldergate Bridge and the Millennium footbridge.

Caroline England, the council's disability sports coach, said: "This is going to be a lovely, relaxed stroll along one of the most pleasant routes in York. The riverside is fully accessible to disabled people, so not only will it be good exercise in the fresh air, but it will also be a great opportunity to make new friends."

For more information about the walk contact Caroline England on 07769 880108.

The Festival of the Rivers takes place between 23 June and 15 July. Full details of the action-packed programme can be obtained from www.yorkfestivals.com
