Recycle Now prize winner named

Posted on Monday 18 June 2007

The winner of a prize draw organised by City of York Council recently to mark Recycle Now Week has been named.

Mr Walter Draycott of Wheldrake entered the prize draw competition at the Recycle Now roadshow held at Asda at Monks Cross on 7 June. The roadshow was one of three similar events held across the city in support of national Recycle Now Week. Mr Draycott won a hamper full of goodies, including wine glasses, coasters, a notebook, writing paper, a key ring, a bottle of wine, chocolate, biscuits, a 'Recycle for York' jute bag, pens, pencils and a mouse mat. All items in the prize hamper are made from either recycled or organic materials.

Residents had the opportunity to enter the prize draw by completing an entry card and putting it into the prize draw box at the council's road shows, which took place during Recycle Now Week.

The council's head of waste services, Geoff Derham, said: "We were delighted with the level of interest that the roadshows generated; we had more than 200 entries to our competition and many more visitors to the roadshows. I would like to express my thanks to all those who attended for the support they showed, and congratulate Mr Draycott for being the lucky winner!"
