Road safety and travel awareness quiz

Posted on Tuesday 12 June 2007

Children at St Paul's Primary School in Holgate will be the first to enjoy an exciting new road safety and travel awareness quiz devised and presented by City of York Council's road safety team.

The team will visit the school this Thursday 14 June as part of Healthy Schools Week, giving pupils an opportunity to take part in the colourful and interactive event.

Mrs Susan Mistry, headteacher at the school, said: “Parents often express their concerns about road safety on their walk to school so this is an excellent way of introducing important life skills to young children.  We are really pleased to be taking part.”

Each child at the school between the ages of seven and eleven has received a special Highway Code for young road users called ‘Arrive Alive’. As part of the quiz they will be given fluorescent ABC cards to show their answers to the multiple choice questions.
