More than 200 young people from York have been invited to a presentation at the Tempest Anderson Hall on Tuesday 12 June at 7pm, which has been organised by City of York Council’s sport and active leisure team.

The guest list includes all those who participated in the North Yorkshire Youth Games at Ampleforth College on Sunday 3 June, along with their family and friends.  The York team achieved its best ever result in the eight-year history of the event.

Each participant will be presented with a certificate by Charlie Croft, assistant director of Lifelong Learning and Culture, and the council's Executive Member for Leisure and Culture, Councillor Christian Vassie.

Lucy Smith, the community sports officer who organised the attendance of the 21 York teams, said: "These youngsters can be truly proud of their efforts at Ampleforth College.  The day was a fantastic example of sporting achievement all round and the atmosphere throughout the event demonstrated the spirit of sporting games."
