Highway improvement work to Foss Islands Road

Posted on Thursday 21 June 2007

City of York Council will start highway improvement works to Foss Islands Road adjacent to the new Foss Islands Retail Park next week.

The work will begin on Wednesday 27 June, lasting for approximately eight weeks,  subject to weather conditions.

The work includes construction of a new signal controlled junction to provide safe access into the new Foss Islands Retail Park area.  A new access will also be formed into adjacent premises. Improved footway and cycleway routes will be built including safe crossing points along Foss Islands Road.

The  majority of the work will be carried out between the hours of 9.00am and 6.00pm Monday to Friday. Two way traffic will be maintained for the majority of the works although occasional lane closures with traffic signal control will be in place.

City of York Council's Neighbourhood Services Organisation will carry out the work.

Delays are anticipated, though the work has been planned in order to keep any disruption to traffic to a minimum. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
